On Wednesday August 12th, 2015 at around 4:00am. Officers from the Waverly Police Department responded to the area of Towne Street in reference to investigate a complaint of someone possible manufacturing Methamphetamine. Upon arrival to the area, Officers located a strong odor of chemicals that were consistent with the production of Methamphetamine at 508 Towne St. Officers made contact with George Ratliff Jr. who was taken into custody without incident. The Pike County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and requested to dismantle the Methamphetamine laboratory that was located. Waverly Chief of Police, Larry Roe, Sheriff Charles Reader, Hazmat One, Squad One, and Waverly Fire Department responded to the scene to assist. Ratliff will be housed in jail charged with Illegal Manufacturing an d Illegal Assembly and the case will be presented to the next term of Pike County Grand Jury. Waverly Police Chief Larry Roe along with Sheriff Charles Reader urges anyone with information regarding this case or any other illegal activity to contact the Waverly Police Department of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
