Pike County Sheriff Charles S. Reader reports that on 07-06-2015 deputies from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 396 Johnson Hill Road in reference to checking on several children living at the address. The Sheriff’s Office had received an anonymous tip that drug activity was occurring in the presence of the children. Upon arrival deputies made contact with the home owner Mariam Vanderpool. Upon speaking with Mrs. Vanderpool Deputies noticed several children in the home as well as various drug abuse items. While at the home Deputies identified several subjects with felony warrants for their arrest. Pike County Sheriff’s investigators were dispatched to the home to assist officers and located heroin in the home. Pike County Children Services was contacted and advised of the situation as well as the children’s names and ages. Arrested at the scene were Mariam Vanderpool, 33 years old of Waverly, Ohio, Amber Zimmerman, 22 years old of Waverly, Ohio, and Ashley Zimmerman, 22 years of age of Waverly, Ohio. Sheriff Reader’s investigators as well as Pike County Children Services are conducting an ongoing investigation into the living conditions of the children and additional charges will be forth coming. Sheriff Reader would like to thank Pike County citizens for the valuable anonymous criminal tips the Sheriff’s Office has received that have led to several drug arrests.
