Sheriff Charles S. Reader reports that on June 21st, 2015 his office handled a burglary at the New Beginnings residential treatment facility, located at 2266 Wakefield Mound Rd. Surveillance video showed a masked suspect approach the building and break out an office window, using tools found on the front porch of the facility. The suspect then entered the office and took several cartons of cigarettes and money.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office received information from several anonymous sources as to the identity of the suspect seen on the video. Christian Welsh, 20 year old male from the Circle ville area had previously been a resident of New Beginnings and was said to have been the person responsible for the burglary.

On June 27th, 2015 Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office arrested Christian Welsh on unrelated charges and he is currently being housed at the Pickaway County Jail. Officers from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office spoke with Wels, who make a full confession on the case. Some evidence from the burglary was collected at the residence in Laurelville area.

Welsh will face the Pike County Grand Jury in late July.
