Sheriff Charles S. Reader reports that on April 28, 2016 at 10:50 a.m. the Pike County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a 3 year old child was missing from a residence on Back Hollow Rd, Waverly OH. The caller reported that her grandchild had gotten out of the house, and the caller could not find the child.

Deputies, EMS, and FD were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival deputies located the toddler in a neighbor’s pond on Back Hollow Rd. EMS crews tried to resuscitate the child while in route to Adena Pike Hospital. Once the EMS crew arrived at Adena Pike the child was pronounced deceased.

The name of the child and family is not being released at this time, pending out of state death notification to next of kin. This case is currently being investigated by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
