Pike County Sheriff Richard Henderson reports on Monday, April 13,2015, at 1537 hrs., his office’s 911 dispatch center received a call from the 16000 block of State Route 335, Beaver, of a male subject, later identified as 66 year old Paul W. Lett Sr. of Beaver, Ohio, who had shot another male in the chest with a rifle. The Pike County dispatch center further received information that the male, who had been shot, later identified as 46 year old Michael Thomas of Piketon, Ohio, was bleeding from the chest area and had fled the scene in a white mini-van attempting to drive himself to the hospital. Pike County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on scene at 16117 State Route 335, the residence of Paul W. Lett Sr. Information was then received that Mr. Lett had also fled the scene driving a black Toyota. Mr. Thomas was located and found at State Route 335 Pit Stop Store where emergency medical personnel assessed his gunshot wound to the chest. Mr. Thomas was then air lifted to OSU Medical Center of Columbus, Ohio where he was listed in critical condition. Mr. Lett was later apprehended at Pike Adena Medical Center in Waverly, Ohio where he was treated and released. Mr. Lett was charged with Felonious Assault, Felony of the 2nd degree, and was transported to the Scioto County Jail Facility for housing.
