Pike County Sheriff Richard N. Henderson reports that on 03-17-2015 at about 12:56am deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Howard Road in reference to a noise complaint, and approached the residence located at 1022 Howard Rd. Upon arriving in the area Deputy Joel Jenkins identified the source of the complaint and approached the residence located at 1022 Howard Road. Upon arriving at the garage next to the home Deputy Jenkins noted suspicious movement and a chemical odor coming from inside a garage. Deputy Jenkins called for back up believing he may have located a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory. Deputy Jim Burchett arrived on scene along with Waverly Police Officer T. Couchenour. Deputies located and detained several suspects inside the garage and confirmed there was an active methamphetamine laboratory on site.

Deputies secured the scene and called for the Pike County Hazmat Response Team. Deputies from the response team responded to the scene where they located and collected items for disposal. Items disposed of were a on pot method methamphetamine laboratory and several other items that are items commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Taken into custody at the scene were James D. Jones (39) of Piketon, Ohio and Danielle Whalen (37) of Seaman, Ohio. Both Whalen and Jones will be charged with felonies related to their arrest, including but not limited to, illegal assembly of chemicals for the manufacture of methamphetamine, and Manufacturing Methamphetamine. This case will be presented to an upcoming term of the Pike County Grand Jury.
