The Pike County Sheriff’s Office would like to issue the following tips for the upcoming trick or treat night.  “Halloween can be great fun for our kids, but unfortunately there are people out there who harm them.  Being prepared is the first step in assuring all goes well.  Make plans for the night and talk to your kids about how to stay safe.  You can make a difference,” stated Sheriff Richard Henderson.

Parents should follow these simple rules:

Do not let your children trick or treat alone.  Only trick or treat at houses taht you know the residents.  Wear a costume that can be seen and that does not block your vision.  Never let children enter homes.  Visit www.pikecosheriff.com or www.buckeyesheriffs.org to search for sex offenders in your area.  Register for automatic alerts and find safety tips for parents and children.

We all can make a difference in keeping Halloween a safe and fun time for our children.
