Deputies locate, seize $22 million in Marijuana.

Sheriff Richard Henderson reports that on Friday, August 20, 2010, while conducting an eradication operation, a large amount of marijuana was found int he western part of Pike County.  Sheriff Henderson said 22,000 marijuana plants were found in the areas of Grassy Fork Road and Green Ridge Road.  The approximate street value of this was $22 million dollars.

Sheriff Henderson praised the work of the many agencies that helped in this operation.  “Without their help, we could nto have been as successful as we were”, said Henderson.  Those agencies were as follows:  Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification, Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Special Response Teams from the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility and the Chillicothe Correctional Institute, Benton Township Fire and Squad personnel, Red Cross, Life Ambulance and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office and BCI&I are working closely in the investigation of their findings in this operation.
